Rock Port (pop. 1,263), home to the county seat, is located just off I-29.  This beautiful town is situated in the midst of the Missouri River Bluffs and is the first community in the nation capable of being 100% wind-powered.  Rock Port boasts a bustling Main Street that includes the Atchison County Memorial Building and Walk of Honor, a tribute to area veterans.  Rock Port R-II (K-12) is home to the Blue Jays.  Active Groups in Rock Port include the Chamber of Commerce and American Legion.
